Nifty formed a strong bullish candle on the daily candlestick chart. Days candle indicates strong buying interest and some short covering at higher levels. Technically, index closed above the 100 DMA and 50 DMA will the near term resistance. 10630-10600 is a strong resistance and 10300-10270 will be a strong support for this series. If index is able to close above 10650 levels then we can expect further short covering and chances are index will try to test previous all time high.

Currently most of the people in the market are bearish and usually markets tend to go against the majority sentiment. Most of the global markets are doing exceptionally well and we saw good movements in major Asian and American markets. FII’s sold shares worth of 486Cr and DII’s bought shares worth of 1514Cr in the cash markets. FII’s cashed 14842Cr and DII’s added 13760Cr into our markets current month itself. India VIX eases 4.25% and closed at 14.20% intraday.

All the major sectors ended with positive note. Nifty Metal & Nifty Pharma sectors outperformed today. TATASTEEL, SUNPHARMA & UPL were the major gainers and ASIANPAINT, GAIL & INFY were the major losers. In the NSE stocks, Advance decline was in total favor for the bulls, 1179 stocks advanced and 328 stocks declined. 12 stocks made 52 week high and 21 stocks 52 week low as well.

FII’s bought 316 long index futures and added 8308 short Index futures position. FII’s Net Index futures position is 9580 (Short positions).

Pro’s bought 3315 long index futures and added 2553 short index futures position. Pro’s Net Index futures position is 1727 (Long positions).

  • Options

FII’s bought 35958 long call options and added 2213 short call options. Net call option positions in the index are 96538.

FII’s bought 26536 long put options and added 5769 short put options. Net put option positions in the index are 153439. (Every month FII’s buy around 2lakh put contracts for portfolio hedging)

PRO’s bought 26649 long call options and added 41201 short call options. Net call option positions in the index are -64438.

PRO’s bought 16172 long put options and added 52189 short put options. Net put option positions in the index are -35228.

Put call ratio for the current series is 1.07

India VIX closed today at 14.20 VIX above 13 is bit cautious. VIX cooled 4.25% intraday.

FII’s long to short ratio in index futures is negative however they are long in the index options by 96538 contracts. They have added 35K long call options and we saw good amount of OI build up in the 10500CE strike. PRO’S have added 52K short put options and we saw OI build up in 10400PE and 10300PE strikes.

  • Stock Futures

Long build up was seen in SUNPHARMA, FORTIS & VEDL and Short built up was seen in PNB.  TATAGLOBAL & BIOCON saw some short covering.

Nifty Technical Analysis

10630-10600 Zone will be a strong resistance and if index close above 10650 levels then chances are index will test the previous all time high.

10300 – 10270 will be a strong support and if index close below the levels then chances are index will test the 200DMA/10030 Previous Swing low.

Nifty closed above the 100 DMA and currently it is trading below the short term moving averages.

MACD still gives a sell signal.

RSI is in no trade zone.

Nifty Outlook

Nifty may face some resistance around the 50 DMA and index needs to close above the 50 DMA for further up move. Above the 50 DMA we can expect meaningful short covering and also the trend followers can add long positions in the index derivatives.
